Build Quality/Appearance

The housings are full metal in a gray and Berry/purple/grape color combination.  It reminds me of the decepticons for some reason.  I wonder Why.

The accessories are quite nice and is basically the same ones that come with the R3 except that it doesn't have the 6.3mm adapter.  The carrying case is nice and solid.  It's bigger than most cases that iems come with so you can carry all the tips, airline adapter and even a small mp3 player like a sansa clip.

Just like the decepticons the S1 is industrial strong.  The Y split it hefty and no one would ever worry about the cables breaking with the strain reliefs.  The cable is a flat type and it quite bendable.  Not a lot of memory when being wrapped at all.

It's "meant" to be worn over the ear but I had no problems with wearing them straight down.  Usuaully an iem is more comfortable one way or the other but the S1 is just as comfortable either way. I prefer them over ear to help with the slight microphonics when worn straight down.  Even then, when worn straight down, there isn't much microphonics.  It is also of note that there is a slight driver flex in one of the iems.  Not both but just one.  It isn't as bad other iems like the MTPG or Carbo Basso but it's there nonetheless.

Treble

It has good resolution and decent clarity while maintaining decent extension.  It won't have sparkle but what it does have it does it well.  Nothing seems veiled or muddy but good clean and crisp treble.  It's not going to wow treble heads but good for long listening sessions.

Mids

They're different from the R3 as they are more laid back.  It isn't forward or obtrusive.  It has decent weight and thickness to the mids.  It's not really recessed but more along the lines of mellow.  When you just want to sit and listen to music.

Bass

The bass is a tad flabby, but it does tighten up a bit after awhile.  It has good mid bass impact and sub bass rumble.  It's not over bearing or bloated.  Just not controlled as well as I would like.

Conclusion

These are solid all arounders for the more popular genres of today.  Rap, Hip-hop and rock.  These aren't great in single category but it isn't last in any category either.  They are wonderful for daily use when you need long listening sessions.

thanks, Very solidly built all arounders.  Not the end all iem but good performance to price ratio.
