Bookshelf, small speakers help: Creative Gigaworks T3 vs Audioengine A2

Basically, because atm my brothers are studying and the living room is not mine, so I can't use my NAD setup in the living room so I have to move into my room to listen to music
 
So, anyone tried both? I have narrowed down to these two choices, same prices and great reviews about them. I listen to a lot of classical, J pop and new age.

I'd get the audioengine A-2s over the gigaworks T-3 because it will have better sound quality.  If you want a 2.1 set up to bug your brothers,

, get the swan M50W from the audio insider for $279.

If u want small perhaps a T-Amp and proper budget bookshelf speakers? If you going with the cheapest/lower powered TA2020, somewhat efficient speakers helps

Ah thanks for the input guys, I wasn't considering amps at all because it is only going to be for very nearfield listening, the A2's internal amps should suffice right?

The a2's sound horrible though, what about the edifier rt1900 or rt2000 , or a small t-amp and some bookshelfs would be fine for nearfield listening.

Never really heard much about them, need to give them a try though, whats the price for edifier's stuff?

What you need is a pair of headphones,

nearfield listening doesn't get any better..Failing that a T-amp and a pair of 4ohm Alesis Monitors is nearly as good.I have yet to hear a pair of active speakers any good....They go against all the known laws of HIFI.ie keep your psu away from the amp and keep that away from the speakers.

Only one small part of this statement is close to being accurate.  For JRG, the A-2s sound terrible; cool. For many others, they sound great.  There is a 30 day audition for them and you can decide for yourself what you think.  There is no doubt that there is an important element of subjectivity when it comes to speakers.

The a2's 200hz-100hz range is boosted by 10+db, it makes the a2's sound muddy it's a bad attempt at making the a2's sound like bigger speakers i guess the a2's do still sound better than average computer speakers but up against a good bookshelf or budget monitors like the edifiers they fail horribly.

Ugh decisions, I wanna try A2's out and compare them to Edifiers but there ain't any Edifier Studio shops around here, nor does my local dealer stock them. Would like to try out the R1900T ver.3 too. Imo Nearfield listening still best headphones in certain ways if you know your room's acoustics and the limits of it.

Get the edifiers. But if ur stuck between the audioengines and the creatives, the a2s would be my pick.
