Hi

Got some Sennheiser HD599 SE's for only $55 and I'm loving them save for needing to mod in my own memory foam headband - I digress...

But - I love roaming around and using bluetooth so I'm pondering options.

I'm only on iOS/tvOS/macOS, so AAC will be my thing.

Do you think something like this TaoTronics TT-BR009 would be great for this?

or..

Alternatively, from a wireless sound quality and power/driving the headphones correctly standpoint, would it be worth it to go to a FiiO uBTR, BTR1/1k, BTR3 or Radstone ES100?

I'm a bit frugal (particularly at this moment in CoronaVirus history), but willing to spend on this component if there will be a SQ difference between these options.

I have an older TaoTronics Bluetooth receiver around the house that only does SBC and - dear lord - no way on SBC. That's an easily noticeable SQ downgrade vs wired - not going to work and thus this search began.

Thank you all!

I have a ES100 MK2 and it is a great little device. I’ve always liked the term “ Overkill is Underrated “ I think power is a good thing for most headphones and don’t think you can have too much but you can definitely listen too loud and I advise against that as when you damage your hearing it’s not coming back but more power doesn’t have to mean much louder. The app for the ES100 is chuck full of features like EQ , cross feed and even ambient sound where the mic picks up sounds around you and mixes it with the music so when out and about you can also hear your surroundings. It is very small but does pack a punch as it can drive my HE-500’s quite well on the 2.5mm balanced output. The sound quality is quite good for such a little device and you can tweak it with the EQ as well. It doesn’t sound as good as most of my Dap’s but it still does a great job at what it does.

Of all the gear I own, my ES100 gets more use than any other piece of equipment. It's remarkable value, and I'd honestly buy it if it were twice as expensive...and I basically have, because I've already lost one!
