Hi all

I installed a D2X last week, and I don't know what happened but when the pc came to resume from hibernate, loads of loud static noise started blaring through the headphones, took me about 5-10 secs to unplug it but I am certain it has damaged the headphones.

I tried some bass testing tracks etc tonight and at high bass eq there is a rattly crunching sound, is it possible that I have damaged the phones?

They aren't that used either so I believe they could have become damaged?

Are you cranking a software EQ when you're testing to "high bass eq"? Those often will introduce their own distortion and make things sound far worse. How do the headphones sound if you turn them up a bit without any EQ boost?

You're most likely to be missing part of the frequency spectrum if you've blown them as you'll burn the voice coil before you do any significant damage to the diaphragm. To be honest I doubt a computer soundcard has the power to do much damage to them, but who knows. As Anonanimal said if you're EQing bass into the headphones it's likely you're just moving the slider up rather than moving the others down or using subtractive gain and so you'll be distorting the music digitally rather than with damaged headphones.

In short your headphones are probably fine.
