Hey folks,

I was wondering if anybody had suggestions on headphones for one of my friends. He is heavily involved in music playing and would like to find headphones that allows for external sounds to be get blocked as much as possible while delivery quality output. The in ears come to mind but I'm wondering how good a fit they are for this context (band + sound blocking). Some Shures maybe? Which ones? He also seemed to be considering the Ultimate Ears (not sure how much those would apply to the context since I'm not as familiar with those).

Any thoughts?

he might get some iem shaped on his ears, like those used by pro musicians, otherwise there are headphones for drummers, for example the beyer DT-770M or other similar products..a conventional headphone, even if a closed one...isn't enough to be used as hearing protection from external noise

Yarp. I figured that it would be a touch too loud still if listening while playing in the band but I had an idea. Maybe stepping outside the realm of headphones would help a bit in this case. IEM coupled with something like construction earmuffs would probably supply a good layer of noise insulation. It won't look pretty but it would probably be one of the cleaner noise reduction setups without going into downright weird and probably unpractical noise filtering systems.

Thoughts?
