Just had a quick demo of these phones, pretty nice sounding and very comfy..hmmm velour!

anyone own these and use them for outdoors? They're closed/sealed design but the plastic casing has no foam inner to cut out external noise.

They're a bit harder to drive compared to Grado RS-1 and Sennheiser PX200, usually 20-25 is enough for those, but the Beyer's needed around 30-35. Source is iriver H140.

ok had the 241's for a day. Overall good phones but not perfect..

Very comfy, pads are very soft.
Headband hardly feels it's there.
Treble & midrange is nice.
Sound leakage - too loud for library use. The enclosure back doesn't have padding, just plastic housing.
However bass is a little too pronounced, not boomy but a bit too loud. It drowns out other detail.

For music that sounds bass light these phones will be ideal (older CD masters etc) but more modern bassy music will result in slightly too bassy presentation.

Source is iriver H140 and Tag DAC20/Audiolab 8000Q. iriver set to normal, hifi system no tone controls.

They cut outside noise somewhat, but not a lot. (More than PX200 and less than HD25, if that helps.) They do leak music out into the environment, enough to bother, say, a spouse in the same room.

What I do like about these cans is that the combination of deep bass and extended treble makes music very intelligible even when you turn the volume way down. Yet overall they don't do a lot for me. My pair (non-Galactic version in grey) gets very little listening time.
