Egads, they're hideous but so kind of interesting looking I think I might want them
Get red and green === port and starboard!!!

I presume it’s quite a good way to fry voice coils…
I understand that the 600 ohm coils are a real delicacy 😋

What about the rear running light? Going to have to attach a boom from the headband with a white LED I guess. 😃

Pick these back up again and they are sounding great on my latest gear. I started with the balanced pads, but I'm finding that I enjoy the analytical pads more. The detail and clarity is amazing at this price point.

Haha, right! These are the best Beyerdynamic headphones to my ears. I like the DT-1990's better than the T1.1, T1.2, and T1.3. All of which I've owned previously.

Yes, for heavy metal I prefer my AH-D9200s, but for all other metal sub-genres I love 1990 Pros or Z7s.

For metal music, it’s hard to beat the Abyss TC’s. I know they are infinitely more than the DT-1990’s, but metal just sounds ridiculously great on them. I also have the Z1R’s. They still are my favorite closed headphone to date. I’ve had them for 4 years and counting.

They are really good, If i had to choose between my dt 1990 and t1 2nd gen I would go 1990s all day.

Yep, pretty easy decision once you hear them side by side in my opinion. There is very little, if anything, the T1.2’s does better. Maybe a slight more refinement, but not by much.

Sounds like I'm in the minority here as I prefer the T1 Gen 2 to the 1990 in most cases. That's not to say I don't enjoy the 1990 also. I am running both on a Bottlehead Crack so that may make a difference. Also I have the black ninja edition T1 Gen 2 that from some reports sounds smoother than the regular T1.

There are times and genres when I think the 1990's more energetic presentation is preferable to the more laid back signature of the T1. For most of the music I listen to however I prefer the T1. Different strokes I guess.

The more energetic sound signature of the DT-1990’s is what does it for me. The T1.2’s were a little to smooth and laid back for my tastes. It’s kind of why I sold my Susvara’s in favor of the TC’s sound as well. I like a little more edginess and bite to my sound :).

10-4. I can totally see that and for a lot of rock and metal that edginess is the cat's meow.

On my end its been a really stressful year so smooth is really desirable right now.

That’s totally understandable. My Z1R’s does smooth with the best of them. So does my Pioneer SE-Master1’s. Both sound a bit more open than the T1.2’s with a similar type warmth to their sound. The balanced pads on the DT-1990’s tone things down a bit as well.

When I owned the DT-1990’s before, I only use the balanced pads. Since that time my sound preferences have changed and so has my gear. This is my second time around with this headphone. There is something about the DT-1990’s sound I really enjoy despite owning many TOTL headphones.
