I got a pair of beyerdynic custom one pros(COP) but noticed that they are that loud coming from my phone but a bit louder from my laptop. Will an amp make the headphones louder, or do I need to return them?

Yes an amp will make them louder. A portable amp should be fine but they're not designed to be used with a really powerful amp.

If by "do I need to return them" you mean "are they faulty?" ... No, they're probably not. A replacement pair would likely get equally as loud.

Here's what Beyer claims about them:

"New Velocity Drivers at 16 ohm, suitable for smart phone, ipad, tablets, home audio or pro audio devices"

I don't have them and have never heard them, but you might want to try another pair.

Well it just depends on what OP considers 'not loud enough'. I seem to remember several reviews mentioning that despite the 16 ohm impedance the COPs don't get particularly loud connected directly to mobile devices.

nokialover: try asking in one of the several COP threads so that people who also have them can shed some more light on this.
