Hi, I have several .dts files which are said to be high quality multichannel music files. I don't have external receivers nor home theater setup. My setup is Xonar Essense ST card and HD650 cans (love these so much). The question is what is the best way to play / listen to them ? Since I don't have home theater system I will use stereo headphones. Are there any software / hacks that will let you enjoy multichannel .dts in a stereo format ? (like 5.1 to stereo conversion or something). Also, according to manufacturer, Xonar Essense has DTS hardware decoder so my guess is that I can listen to .dts files without additional software decoding.

I've figured out how to listen .dts files through foobar to use with headphones or stereo setup:

1) Get DTS encoder http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_input_dts

2) In foobar DSP settings set it like this:

Convert 5.1 to stereo
DTS_Decoder

Good quality conversion.

AC3 Filter works well too.  I not sure how to use it foobar though.  There are plenty of settings to tweak so you don't get clipping.
