Hi again guys,

basically looking for a pretty nice second-hand sub off of something like ebay where I can get a better bang for my buck.

any recommendations?
just started searching and I found some - anyone have experiences with these?
Velodyne VRP-1000 Powered Subwoofer- seems like a good brand..
Velodyne VX-10 150 Watts 10" Powered Subwoofer
YAMAHA YST-SW215/216/225 - seems like there's a few variations..
Energy ESW-10 Subwoofer - heard energies are good price-performance ratio
Pure Acoustics SLW-10 subwoofer
Nuforce W-1 Subwoofer
Klipsch KSW-10 Subwoofer Subwoofer Speaker
Boston Acoustic XB6 subwoofer
Bose Acoutimass 10 III 3 Powered Subwoofer Sub w/Cables

I am seriously open to ANY suggestion - my budget is essentially
150-200 used (hopefully snatching something at 300ish retail secondhand)
I can go up to 250 if like the OPTIMAL budget sub is there but yeah... just enlighten me guys

This sub is going with MKIIIs/Balanced Matrix DAC if that helps.

Thanks!

I got a Velodyne CHT 8 off Craigslist for $75 that rocks my world. On Craigslist you go pick it up....shipping a beastly sub will eat into your $200 in a hurry.

there arnt any good subs in that price range unfortunatly. Keep cleaning the couch cushions for pennies. You are close though, my recomendation would be the insane value that is Elemental Designs A2-250. 325$ (if you must waste your money on a cheap sub, the ones listed above are indeed the least crappy for the money) They also have free shipping, this sub is at least twice as good as the others mentioned for a paltry 75$ over budget.

Velodyne makes great high end subs but their lower end Velodynes aren't very good. The Klipsch and Bose are pretty awful. The Energy listed is the same as the TSC ASW-10, which is being sold for $149.99 shipped plus 20% off so if you're considering the Energy, I'd go with that. If you're looking for something a little better, I was on the fence between the ED A2-300 and the TSC T250, the T250 just dropped to $199 shipped so I snagged one yesterday. The good thing about TSC is that they offer free shipping both ways so if you don't like it, you can just send it back and get a 100% refund.

Haven't heard the other subs listed so can't comment.

ahhh I started out only buying 200 speakers - now I splurged like 400 on those, 300 on my DAC and I really don't feel that I should get better subs than my speakers xD!

But I really do like rock/pop/bassy stuff and I need a good sub, I really am looking for one to kinda just "get me through" until I get 800-900 when I'm gonna look into the TR3s by Gallo - I read some reviews and they sound really nice.

So I am really indecisive as to WHERE I should cut my cap - I have about 350 right now but if I spend it all then (I am a student so..) I'm kinda screwed if I want some small stuff on the side haha

If you buy one of the ED subs, i doubt you'll have a desire to upgrade to an 800+ sub later, but I could be wrong, who knows.

Don't worry about building...just learn what makes good drivers/designs/crossovers. Starting with good drivers is essential if want good sound.

T250 250 Watt 10" Subwoofer - Best Deal

I went with it also because the EDs are tuned more for HT use then music use. Some people have reported port noise with the TSC though. I'll find out next week if this is true or not.

Amazon.com: MartinLogan DYNBLD Dynamo 10-Inch Subwoofer (Single, Black): Electronics
was yesterday's goldbox deal for only 240 and it flew right by me.....
argh, just goes to show "quite" good subs can be bought at my price range if I just wait... *sigh*

These have been going on and off sale for the past couple of months since ML has released their replacements. I believe they were half off though so $325. It's supposed to be great for music and good for HT in small rooms. It doesn't have the SPL output or LFE of the EDs for more HT centric systems though.
