Hello. What do you think is the best output power for drive Andromeda? Is it good with a 1.5 ohm output source? I read that the sweet spot would be about 2 -2.5 ohm. When i take a ieMatch in ultra mode with 1ohm must i count 1.5 + 1 = 2.5? Or make it 1 ohm? When i go with high mode 2,5 ohm is it 1,5 + 2,4 =4 ohm? Or is the output really that what is on outpout from ieMatch? I hear that with 1.5 ohm is a bit bassy.

I think for drive the Andromeda "neutral" i must go with ieMatch high ( 2.5 ohm ) ?

Thanks

The IEMatch is a voltage divider, so it will always present about 1 or 2.5 ohms to the Andromedas as long as your source has a reasonable output impedance. If your source has a low output impedance, you'll want to snag a 20-ohm impedance adapter for the IEMatch to raise the effective input impedance.

The Andromedas aren't neutral, and that's not what people choose them for. 1 and 1.5 ohm impedances are warmer, 2.5 ohms less so. People have different preferences regarding the output impedance, so pick whatever sounds good to you.

I'm happy with my iPod Touch 6G with Andromeda

Listen before you make any changes. My player has an SE output impedance of 1.2 ohms and balanced at 1.5 ohms. I actually prefer the lower impedance single ended out with Andromeda. I've read some comments about low z making it boomy, or even muddy, but don't have that issue at all with low zout. The boomy, muddy complaint I am thinking of was with a different player than mine, so it could be a synergy issue, or just the difference in listeners :0). Of course there is more sub bass with the lower output impedance, but to me it is very close to in line with the rest of the frequency range levels. Bass should be there and should have impact to my taste, and it is there this way. I'm not quite a basshead even though I think it has to be present, detail, clarity, separation and stage are all highly important to me to. This setup checks all boxes for me with the andros. Highs are a bit toned down with that setup, but detail and clarity is still there throughout the range for me and the recessed highs keep them from being fatiguing so I'm good.
