I'll second the vote for the CD1700.
(hard to find in the US since its discontinued)

I've have owned:
AGK 501
Senn 580
SR-225
MS-II
CD1700

Of these five, the CD1700 made the female voice sound the nicest.
It's wide soundstage also make this phone really good for late night DVD viewing.

I've been quite impressed with the Ixos MOS DJ1001's portrayal of vocals. At times I think it's midrangy (middle mids), yet the highs are always very detailed and transparent, never coarse, and the lows are always very extended. So, I'm thinking my listening habits have probably been warped by my damn mid-range-less Bose speakers

Happyman,

Just so that you know it is an option, the ATH-W1000's are selling on Audiocubes for $339, I believe. They are predicted to sound like the $800 W2002's and are expected be a much better headphone that the W100.
