Hello everyone I am new to this site but I love headphones. I am looking for the besa gaming headset under 150 dollars that is surround sound 51/7.1. Preferably with a mic but it does not have to have one. I have a sound blaster x sound card on my pc. Also I obviously like one that does not need an amp but I could get one if needed to make the sound quality better. I just want to know the best gaming headset that is surround sound under 150. If there is none then what is the best gaming headset under 150 that is not surround sound?

Thank you

I haven't been into gaming since the PS2 (LOL) but while I've been looking for headphones I've read a few articles that have said the Sony Pulse Elite headphones are supposed to be great for gaming as well as for good sound quality. For music. It sounds like you are running a PC for gaming you would maybe have to pick up an extra adaptor of some sort (IDK for sure) I hear they are great headphones though

I'm assuming you mean Sound Blaster Z, not Sound Blaster X.

Sennheiser HD558 headphones ($85-$120)
Aftermarket cable ($18-$26) for the HD558.

Assuming your Sound Blaster Z did not come with a mic.
You could buy any add-on mic you like.

Yes I did mean sound blaster z. I will go check those headphones out. Also, are they good for competitive gaming. I want to here the enemies foot steps from every direction

Should be just as good as any other headphone for FPS gaming.
Amazon sells used ones for under $100.
Remove the black rubber tape from inside the cups of the HD558,
as the tape cover about one third of the air holes.

Ok thanks and last thing I also read another thing you posted about the Ath ad900x headphones. Would you recommend those over the 558s. And would I need a amp to give it the extra boost for surround sound and clarity?

The AD900Xs are a little more musically inclined then the HD558s, more "life" in the audio, with the AD900Xs.
I own the A900X closed version, I have used my A900X a lot more then my HD558s.
Nice thing about the Audio Technica ATH series is they sound good with or with a dedicated headphone amplifier.
As you already have the Sound Blaster Z, can't see a pressing need to add a external headphone amplifier.
The amplifier built into the Z card is decent enough, for now.

Looks like there are some good deals on used ATH-AD900Xs on eBay.

Do you recommend the 900x or the 558 for competitive gaming? Which would be a good amp for one?
Thanks

You listed the 900X, assuming talking about the closed version?
I would take the AD900X or A900X, over the HD558s.
Maybe the open version (AD900X) over the closed version (A900X).

Amplifiers
FiiO E11K
Schiit Magni, $99
O2 (Objective 2), $130
