Please elaborate on how your Grado SR60 earpads sound relative to the stock comfie pads? (my source is an M-Audio Revolution 7.1 sound card)

"Grado Earpads (Large)
Anyone who has talked to us on the phone over the past five years has heard us say that Grado headphones are great for rock and roll, but often lack the refinement necessary for classical and acoustic music. We just felt they were a bit boomy and harsh. Well... pierce my tongue and hang me with speaker wire! These new pads completely change the sound of Grado headphones—they open up the highs, get rid of an annoying harshness around 2 kHz, and the rid the cans of a murky mid-bass. Highly recommended!"

I just switched to modified sennheiser pads from comfy pads, but I'm using MS1.

The main differences I hear/feel so far are:
1) noticeably better soundstaging
2) more comfortable (The modified comfys felt too soft.
3) doesn't sound as bright.

Going from comfies to modded Senns gives me less brightness and a little less but tighter bass. The differences are there but not major, especially the bass difference. I found the comfort to be about equal, a couple hours use without problems.

Hi TMC:

Can I ask what your source and musical preferences are?

Which do you find more musically correct and satisfying: stock comfies or the vwaps (modified Senns)?

Also, have you compared unmodified Senns vs. the stock comfies?

I'm currently using the Sony D-66 PCDP lineout and a Meta42 amp or just straight out of my Zen Xtra. When I'm using the SR60/MS-1 I almost always play rock and for me the modded Senns sound better.

Go get flats, haven't tried them, but highly praised. Smaller soundstage compared to the bowls, but better overall sound (YMMV of course). Modified Senn pads are much better than comfies, modded are unmodded. Bowls don't sound too bad either, if you get used the the pain (good thing I'm a little masochistic)
