Recently I purchased the Behringer and hooked it up to my first CD-player, the CD690.
All you need is a male XLR to female RCA or male XLR to male RCA cable.
Set up: CD + CD690 + SRC 2496 (in 96/24) + Modified HD428. At the moment I have this Behringer for the second day, testing it as a DAC. What is does to the sound is quite nice yet subtle: the music sounds clearer, the music sounds better defined, lifelike sound? Now regarding lifelike sound, now Yann Tiersen's "Comptine d'un Autre Éte: l'Apres Midi sounds warmer and more intimate as if I am close to the piano. In the other tracks of the Amélie soundtrack I am noticing the same thing. To compare I checked the music through the K240 DF connected to the CD690: there the music lacked a sense of immediacy and lifelikeness.
Does the Behringer make the sound of music more natural? I am not sure yet. I will test the Behringer more often for I want to be sure about this device. What I am noticing now is how Yann Tiersen's music for Amélie sounds full of detail and more lifelike.
I will post more impressions later...
