I have been using Audioengine A2+ for 2 months, two set of them (s/n 1603xxxxxxx black). With moderate volume (40% for volume knob and 50% for windows volume) I can notice a bass distortion only from the left speakers when playing some music tracks with deep bass. The most obvious track is the first 20 second of SBTRKT’s Wonder Where We Land (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQFplYJMC1A). I also try tone generator (http://www.szynalski.com/tone-generator/) to identify the problematic frequency and it was getting worse.

At moderate volume (40% of volume on the webpage), I can hear such distortion from around 125 Hz and below, again, only from the left speaker. At moderate volume, I may have to put my ear in front of the left speaker to hear such distortion. However, when increasing the volume, the distortion becomes more obvious and can be heard at the casual sitting position.

In addition, I can duplicate the problem on another A2+ as well, again, only from left speaker. The right one does just fine with a nice clean bass.

I have tried all inputs and connection (AUX and USB from different sources such as PC, laptop, and mobile phone). I am sure the speaker wire is connected correctly. I also try these speakers at different places to ensure that placement and electricity are not the problem. Also, I tried playing the track and the sine waves with other speakers (Swan M100mkii), and they produced no distortion at all.

I tried to find everywhere on the Internet and found nothing on this exact issue. I am wondering that it is not only my particular sets that have the problem since two of them can duplicate the exact problem.

Can anyone using A2+ confirm this problem for me? Just open the tracks and tone generator and you will see if the problem is there or not. BTW sorry for my bad English. Thank you

Sounds like you've done a great job trying to troubleshoot this.  I just tested this out on a set of A2+s I have, and I didn't hear anything similar.  I think there's likely an issue with your A2+s.  If you haven't already I'd recommend opening a Technical Support ticket on our support portal - http://support.audioengineusa.com/support/tickets/new
