Hi,

Any good or bad experiences with Altec Lansing Expressionist Plus FX3021 would be appreciated here ?

I'm looking for to upgrade my laptop speakers with a budget less than 90$. I don't need a bassy speakers, mid and high range are important for me. Nevertheless, a detailed of low bass will be appreciated. I'm not listening metal, trance or house music.

Thanks in advance

$90 may not sound much but for more musically inclined options

Edifier 1600-1900T series
Microlab Solo 4-6 series

A TA2020 Tripath amplifier paired with something like a Sony SS-B3000 bookshelf speakers? Dipping in the used audio hardware market may net you better speakers as well

Thanks trog for your reply,

Both Edifier and Microlab are too expensive for me.

The TA2020 Tripath amplifier is a nice idea. Sorry, if it sounds stupid but  how do you connect a laptop to the amplifier.

The Sony SS-B3000 bookshelf speakers are too big to put on the table next to my laptop.

Any others  speakers ?

You would use a cable from the laptop to the amplifier.  it would be a 3.5mm to dual RCA.
It helps to think of a PC or laptop as just another audio component, it has line level inputs and outputs like any consumer audio gear.  So you can connect your system to preamps or power amps or connect devices such as CD players, cassette Decks and Vinyl players to your system.
Note, some Turntables may require a RIAA preamplifier though.

It is all just a matter of cables and adapters.

Hope that helps.

I've just realized that I have this cable to connect my laptop to the amplifier.

Which bookshelf speakers not more than 11 inch (or 25 cm) on front wide or on depth ?

Any others laptop speakers around 75$ ?

What about Behringer MS16 bookshelf speakers ?
