Hi,
I just got my micro amp today and was hoping the background noise when I turned the volume up past a whisper on my computer would be a thing of the past, but its not

I can use the volume on the micro amp exclusively now without bothering with the volume controls on my computer, but that doesnt matter, as soon as I turn the volume up past a whisper I can hear that annoying background noise, that just gets louder as I move the volume up. Its not something new that just started when I got the micro amp, it was there all along. I just figured it was because my soundcard didnt have enough power to drive my headphones and thats where that noise came in. But unfortunately the amp still does it 2. how do i get rid of this? I would think maybe its interference from my monitor or something but it doesnt change in the slightest whether I have the monitor on or off. Can anyone please help me ? I have a micro dac on the way in a few days, I dont know if thats going to change anything or not, but I dont see how it would since this isnt part of the music, its just there whether somethings playing or not.

I've been sifting through my music on itunes and noticed on some files the noise gets worse with some songs and others its the same as when no music is playing, which is still bad. If that helps at all

Get into Windows audio properties and turn off everything that's not Master/Wave volume, Line In and Mic jacks often cause hiss. Some soundcards are poorly made enough (or just faulty) that they leak interference into their outputs. That or the amp's faulty, which would be least likely.

Of course it won't get rid of the hissing, the amp is only AMPLIFYING the crappy signal you are feeding it.

Once you get the DAC, you should be happy sailing. In the meantime, try the suggested changes above, mute all uneccesary in/outs on your audigy 2.
