Well, after over a year of being on the boards and trying numerous different headphones, including:

Koss Portapros & Sportapros, Koss KSC-50, Senn MX300 & 400, Senn PX200, Sony V6/7506, AKG K141S, AKG K401, Shure E1, Shure E2c, Westone UM1, Sony MDR-7505, Audiotechnica ATH-M30, Grado SR60 and 80, Sony MDR-E888LP Gold, Sony EX-70, Sony EX-51

and going through a few different portable sources:

Sony D-25S, D-131, D-33, D-180K, D-EJ711, D-EJ611, D-EJ955, Sharp MD-MT180, Sony MZ-R90, MZ-R55, MZ-R50, MZ-R3, MZ-R30

and trying an Airhead amp, I've come down to the fact that for portable, stick in my pocket and go, rugged, good sound WITHOUT an amp, I always come back to the Sportapros and the MX400's. And I will soon be reunited with the MZ-R50 for my portable. I think I've finally gotten tired of going through stuff, even if I trade stuff to get new items, and don't lose too much money.

At the end of the day, it's the Sportapros, (or the MX400's if I'm tight on space) and the R50.... A rugged portable with a clean output, a good warm sounding, non-fatiguing headphone (and yes, I've learned to stay away from the mega bass button), and I'm finally getting back to focusing on ENJOYING THE MUSIC, which is something I've lost sight of in all this searching and experimenting.

Anyone else come full circle with their headphones and portables and eventually "settle down" with one setup that really works? Please share your experiences...

Moderators (Dunc) please put this in the appropriate forum, although I think it fits here quite well....

thanks,
