Ayre makes top drawer stuff for sure. I haven't heard the QX-8, but have listened to the QX-5 Twenty. I also own their AX-5 Twenty integrated amp, C-5xeMP disc player, and QB-9 DSD DAC. If you're still living in Boulder, you're practically down the street from their new facility in Niwot, so you might be able listen to one in person.

Why bother? Just get an old QB9 and upgrade to Twenty and you get near QX-5 level performance.

Because I want NEW and a warranty for an expensive piece of equipment.

Have been burned in the past by a "reputable" dealer on an expensive CD player.
