Hm, no I did not. I don't have foobar installed on that system but using ASIO4all I was assuming I get a clean path via kernel streaming anyhow. The Optoplay is not bit perfect in 16 bit mode unless I use ASIO4all

Just repeated all the tests with foobar.
The foobar KS output plugin does not work over the USB audio driver. When you try to select the USB audio card it reports an error about not being able to query device capabilities.
However, I found the problem in my recording chain. I forgot to switch my digital input to external clock after I did some loopback tests on the DIO24/96.
Withe correct setting of S/PDIF-in , I can produce equivalent results between the Optoplay card and the M-audio DIO24/96. I am using ASIO4all over the Optoplay.
