I have a pair of AT IM02 that I owned for a couple of years. Recently the acoustic damper foam material has been disintegrating quite seriously till the extent that I could not ignore any further; both sides do sound slightly different (due to uneven disintegration of both sides). My im02 has been remodded to mmcx with a local DIYer some time ago, thus, voided of any warranty rights (if I even can find my prove of purchase), so taking the iem to a service centre is not an option for me. I have read on other threads that AT does not sell this acoustic damper, and it could be proprietary to the company.
I was considering to dig the leftover foam out (before they disintegrate further and get into the iem housing) with a nozzle tool and replacing it with any other materials (cotton fluff, kitchen sponge). I have no knowledge on audio engineering and thus hope to seek advice from the community what will be the best material to DIY with. Thanks in advance!
(Sorry I'm new and I can't post url links of my im02 pictures for some reason or so)
