I've recently bought the M50 and, in comparison to my Logitech G35, is very well balanced. The sound is warm and bass response is nice. But I find them so uncomfortable. There isn't enough room (diameter or depth) in the earcups to allow me to wear them for longer than a few hours. I can wear my G35's for 5-10 hour gaming sessions with no problem.

I've been doing some reading and it seems that the DT 770 PRO is the closest competitive match. Apparently it is dramatically more comfortable, but has less bass response of un-amplified. (I'm running my phones through an AVR).

Genres I listen to consist mostly of Hip-Hop and Rap aka bass heavy music and I'll be using them for movies and gaming. I really appreciate the warmth of the M50. The G35's mids seem very muddy in comparison. Can someone suggest some headphones around the same price range, which are equal (or better) than the M50 which are more comfortable?

Thanks

DT 770 is a bass monster. I think it has more bass than the M50 amped. Or probably about the same when unamped. Amping mostly "tightens" up the bass. Unamped it can sound flabby, airy, and farty. What is your application/source/usage?

Yeah, the DT770 puts out a whole lot of bass (too much for me)...
more than the M50 for sure.
Also, for many if not most, the DT770 is one of the most comfortable headphones around
(along with its 'brothers' the DT880 and DT990, both of which have an entirely different sound than
the DT770's).

Ok, so I'm pretty set on getting the DT770 Pro's. I'm just not sure as to whether or not I should get the 80ohms or 250ohms version. I will never use these headphones for a portable device. I'm buying them for home use, via either my PC or Audio Video Receiver.

From what I understand the 250ohms version sounds better when powered properly. (Not to mention that it is WAY cheaper). Would I be able to run these phones through my AVR? I'm not sure how familiar you are with receivers in general, but here's a link to the one I have,

I slightly prefer the sound of the DT770 250-Ohm over the DT770 Pro 80-Ohm

Your Yamaha RX-V375 receiver is rated by Yamaha for headphones up to 450-Ohms, so 250-Ohm should be no problem.

A Creative labs Sound Blaster Z sound card ($73-$83) for your PC, would do a nice job of driving the DT770s

Where abouts did you see that 450ohms figure? I can't seem to find it anywhere :/

Months (maybe a year?) ago someone emailed Yamaha's tech support and got back the info that the Yamaha RX-V3XX and RX-V4XX series are rated for 450-Ohms and any higher class receivers are rated up to 600-Ohms.
They passed the info on to me.

Even though I prefer the sound of the DT 770's in 250 Ohms, I would use the 80 Ohm version 99% of the time just because of the straight cable.

Courtesy update,
I returned the M50 and bought the Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro (80ohms). The 770 is fantastic! Warm mids, great bass response and extremely comfortable.
Thanks for the help.
