Hi,
I am considering purchasing one of these and i can't decide which to buy. I can have used A500x for 100€ and new T500 for 90€. Mainly playing cs:go, gta v+ all kinds of music and movies. Also I am upgrading from Sennheiser HD439, because noise issolation is very poor, I am not really sure if it's actually worth it but i don't want to hear anything but the sound from my headphones. I am planning to pair them with Asus Xonar DX/D1 in the future. So which would you recommend? Are the A500x worth paying more?

Thanks

Never listened to the T500 but the A500x are a good headphone, would recommend them for the price.

The Xonar DX/D1 headphone/Front Speaker jack has a output impedance of 100-Ohm, not great for driving any headphone.
To me the DX/D1's jack is more like a line-output jack, that also pretends to be a headphone jack.
You might consider getting a Sound Blaster Z sound card, it comes with a dedicated amplified headphone jack with a 22-Ohm output impedance.
22-Ohm is not the most desirable. but still a fair bit better then the DX/D1's 100-Ohm.

I prefer Xonar cards over Creative Labs, but the Sound Blaster Z is really the better buy.

You also might consider the lower costing Xonar DG or DGX sound cards, very decent for their low cost and their headphone jack seems to have a low output impedance.
As it's lower cost, leaves more in your budget for headphones:)

I have read that on the DG are used very cheap components so I'd rather go for somehing better. Processor AV100 seemed to fit my needs (D1, DX) or AV200 (DS) but you don't recommend pairing them with headphones.

Is it really like no way, it won't be a good idea to pair AT headphones with them?

The Xonar DS, DSX, D1, DX, STX, ST all use the same C-Media CMI8788 audio processor.
Asus has different labels (AV100, AV200, etc) for the same audio processor.
C-Media might disable some features before the final product goes out the door, depending on the audio processor's use.

Some people have directly connected headphones to the DS, DSX, D1, DX and been happy with that setup.
To me the headphone/line-output jack on them is more like a line-output, that pretends to also be a headphone jack (high impedance issue).
I'm an Xonar fan, but I would rather push people to get the Sound Blaster Z sound card, audio quality should equal the D1 and DX, but the SB-Z is better at driving headphones.
As the SB-Z comes with a dedicated headphone jack, with a decent headphone amplifier.

I think the Xonar DG & DGX are very decent cards for the price, may not use the top of the line parts, but still decent cards.
The DG/DGX have what seems to be a low cost (but decent) built in headphone amplifier, for the price.

Well, it looks like I will go for DGX and ATH A500X (60€ on amazon - isn't that a steal? :o) It costs 180€ in my country.

Thank you for your recommendations.
