Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help me with upgrading my Audio-GD DI-20 to Amanero firmware version 2006be11. There was a post from March 25th where it was mentioned to press the red button on the back of the DI-20, which erases the current firmware version so that a new version can be installed. My question centers around a recent purchase of a Sonore ultraRendu, which I was trying to use for DSD playback. I was not able to get DSD to play and contacted Jesus, from Sonore, and he told me that the firmware of the DI-20 was not compatible with the ultraRendu for DSD playback. I then contacted Kingwa, from Audio-GD to see if he knew of an Amanero firmware version or driver that would work with the ultraRendu. He sent me the following two responses:

Dear James,

The Amanero web already included the guide.

For the DI20,

It need short two pads during the update but you don't want short them, just push the swtich on rear , that inside the update port hole, then can start select the update firmware and update it.

You only want to update the DI20 is ok.

Kingwa

Dear James,

The Amanero default firmware work with OS, WIN native.

Linux can update the firmware to support DSD native.

I am really interested in buying the DI20 but until now I am not sure at all if the DI20 with the Amanero USB interface supports native DSD512 with linux. In my case I am using Roon Rock (linux OS) to do the upsampling to DSD512. If that works I would go for the DI20. @anroj : Did you successfully updated the Amanero USB interface and is your DI20 now able to play native DSD512 with your linux source (ultraRendu)?

Hi bescer, I was able to do the firmware update, but it only supports DoP with my ultraRendu. My issue was trying to use the ultraRendu with the Amanero firmware version that came with my DI-20. It was not able to play DSD at all with the ultraRendu.

@anroj : Many thanks for your reply. In the following thread the user 'barrowsw' commented on 28 Jan that he was able to play native DSD 512 with the ultraRendu using firmware 'CPLD_1081 slave' and '2006be11' with special clock settings of his DAC:

https://github.com/lintweaker/xmos-native-dsd/issues/12

May be it's a DAC-specific issue.

So I still wonder if the DI20 would work in my setup (roon rock upsampling to DSD 512 -> USB output -> DI20 -> i2s output -> Holo Spring DAC, NOS-Mode playing DSD512). Things are complicated.

You are welcome. As a side note, I am able to get DSD512 with the updated Amanero firmware via IIS connection from the DI-20 to my Audio-GD R8, but I am not able to play native DSD via the ultraRendu. Do you know what DAC barrowsw uses with the ultraRendu/DI-20?

Which source do you have connected to the DI20 USB input? Is it a linux system?

Do you know what DAC barrowsw uses with the ultraRendu/DI-20?

I have a Windows-based NUC connected to the DI-20 USB input. When I use the ultraRendu, I believe that is Linux-based.
