i am looking to get a pair of Audeze EL8 Closed and was wondering what the difference, if any there is between the wood grained and titanium version. I understand the later models after serial #3000 plus are the best to purchase, but when they introduced the titanium version, were there any differences in sound or was it just a different color scheme? Any advice on this is appreciated.

Thanks
James

I've noticed on EL8 closeds (wood) and on Titaniums that in some pairs you can clearly see the vents inside the caps and on some others they're covered, also they have slightly different design and pads if you watch carefully.. The ones which you can't see the vents are the 2015:https://www.ebay.com/itm/Audeze-EL-8-Closed-Back-Over-Ear-Black-Brown-Headphones-for-iPod-iPhone-iPad/153535215501?_trkparms=aid=111001&algo=REC.SEED&ao=1&asc=20160908105057&meid=22eaf8dfb5fd4685ad03069232f738ea&pid=100675&rk=2&rkt=15&mehot=none&sd=303268467942&itm=153535215501&pmt=1&noa=1&pg=2380057&brand=Audeze&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci:003a3e69-ddfe-11ea-ac0a-7e83adee2ad4|parentrq:ebd344c11730a69e54bba201fffffeda|iid:1
and they don't sound good, I suggest taking one of those which you can see the vents,
they are the 2016 version:https://www.ebay.com/itm/Audeze-EL-...176267&hash=item469c3594e6:g:GN0AAOSwqI1dZ70n
they have upgraded sound, MUCH better!!! There are 2016 versions both on normal wood version and on Titaniums, the problem is If you want Titanium and you want It brand-new, you can not know If It's the 2015 or 2016 version because you're not able to see If the vents are visible in headphone caps or not, you can't open the box and they are exactly the same boxes between the two versions.. As for the normal wood version, you are able to determine If It's 2015 or 2016 version because the 2015 box is white showing the template of headphones and the 2016 version is typical gray-black box with green and white letters..
To answer your main question, both wood and Titanium versions sound exactly the same as both are 2016 or 2015 versions... I've asked Audeze and that's what they told me.
Hope my answer covers all your questions, thanks!
