I have Hifiman Aryas as open backs, they don't disappoint at all but I like it loud to the point I'm worried when it's late the neighbours can hear my music so what I'm looking for is some closed back headphones that are similar to the sound signature of the M50X's but gives me more detail without sacrificing bass. I've tried some shure 840As headphones and sivga SV021 but I still keep going back to my M50's.
I'm not interested in anything from Beyerdynamic or Sennheiser, they have low powered / weak drivers, they distort at the levels I like, most likely AKG and Focal fall into that category as well.
Other cans I've looked at but think they might not give me what I'm after, Austrian Audio - Hi-X65, HarmonicDyne Athena, Denon range, Aeon Closed, If pushed I'd probably try some Neumann NDH 20's but I'm not convinced these will put the M50's to shame.
Budget is around $500, I may go more for the 'right' headphones, don't think I'm looking to spend Arya money again. So yeah I've looked at about every closed back option, come up with zero at the moment - not really interested on having to use EQ, as per some headphones suggest you need to.
Any suggestions ?
