I was perusing the Audioasylum forum under tubes and spoke to Joseph Lau (I'm guessing owner) and he told me that a new headphone amp will be presented at the Montreal show in October.

It will be a headphone amp as well as a preamp for stereo use.

I'll let you know when I find out more

It will be simulair price as AQ2004. I consider to use design
a. 6DJ8 in SRPP - It will have low impedance and enough gain. (It is under test.) + a Coupling transformers to lower the impedance and it can drive low impedance headphone properly.

b. 1/2 12AX7 or 12AU7 coupling to a White cathode follower + a coupling transformers to match with Headphone.

c. a Headphone adapter for all amplifiers to additional a Headphone output. It suitable for tube amps/Solid state , Power amps , Integrated amps , It even can drive direct by a CD , SACD player or a Low impedance Line amps. (I had test it in our AQ2001 , Pro-Phono 1 I , it had resonable level and sound great !).
It will have 2 version. a Low cost version may be can retail around US$40. (Freuency response 30Hz to 35Khz +-3db).
High grade version : Around US$100 - Frequency respose 20Hz to 25Khz +-1db

Sounds interesting!

I tried to track down some additional info for you all. I'll quote Joseph's Reply:

Thanks for your intersting on our products very much.

New products under developt.

1. A Headphone adapter in very low cost. May be will retail less than US$40. It can match to all Power amps and Integrated amps to become a Headphone amps. (Power amps function still can keep. It have a switch to change between Power and Headphone amps). It even can match with CD players , Low impedance Pre-amps...
or covert a High impedance OTL amps to low impedance amps can drive down to 32 Ohm.
Frequency - 25Hz to 40Khz +-3db

2. Same function as 1 but use high grade materials. Frequncy response from 20Hz to 25Khz +-1db - Around US$100

3. a Line amps with Headphone Out - same technologies as point 1.

Best Regards
Joseph Lau

Just got another email from Joseph:

Yes ! It is a New amps but it is not for replacement of MG-Head. It had difference design. It major is design for a Line amps but will have 2 matching transformers inside to made it can match with Headphone impedance. Transformers also difference type. It is a parafeed besign. So it sound charateristic is not same as MG-Head.

Best regards
Joseph Lau

Enjoy!
