Would this be a good combination? What kind of connector do you use to connect the AX to a DAC? I want something not too expensive

Help me out, i have no idea how a DAC works.

You need an optical to coax converter if you want to use the ART DI/O with the Airport Express.

Keep in mind that many of the positive reviews of the ART DI/O are after modifying it. The Stancor power supply upgrade is almost essential. If you add up the cost of the DI/O plus the Stancor power supply plus an optical to coax converter, you're getting close to the price of the AOS Piccolo DAC.

If you're buying used, the DI/O could be a good value, however. If you're buying new, you should give the Piccolo a look.
