Just got my E500's, they sound excellent with my comply foams (albiet - to me - very similar to my UM2's).

Tried the triflanges and the stock buds and both felt odd, couldnt get a good seal at all and the triflanges made it feel like the buds were 1" outside my ear...

Not at all, lots of people can't use triple flanges in its normal state. I couldn't get any seal at all with triple flanges, and they stuck out waaaayyy too much. In the end I cut the top flange off, but it never felt good. So did Ety tri's, even if they were a bit smaller.

I don't understand how people can use non-foam sleeves. Rubber one's causes unnatural pressure on your ears, whereas foams even out the pressure while expanding in your canals.

I have ER-4P's. I only use the comply foams. More isolation + comfort

The new Shure "black olive" foamies are also quite amazing - they're probably worth a try once you need to replace your tips. The sound, comfort, and isolation puts them on a whole another level than triflanges.

If you're unsure on the size of the Shure black foamies, it's probably best to go with small if you use the short complies. Medium is a tad larger than the short comply, but smaller than the tall's.

I love the Comply foams -- they made me appreciate the Etymotics ER6i's ... the flanges just weren't for me (especially the tri-flanges).

I'm now also loving the Shure black foams on my Future Sonics Atrio M5's (I'm listening to them now).

I can tell the Shures will last a lot longer; the photos make them look like silicones, but they're an even denser foam than the Complys. For me, the Complys are even more comfortable. I highly recommend either or both.
