If one see's HDTracks selling an album, say Michael Jackson's Off The Wall in 24/96, will this be the exact same download as Off The Wall in 24/96 from another company such as Qobuz.com? Will the same master have been used etc?

Obviously, this question is not just with reference to Off The Wall, but any album. Is there any reason to think that one vendor may be selling a different version form another?

Thanks

Oftentimes, it is a different version - but they don't make it a common practice to tell you, the paying consumer, that, much less specify anything of value. Of course, the opposite is also true. Plenty downloadable albums from various sources consist of the exact same files. The fact that most digital music stores do not offer refunds makes this even more frustrating. If in doubt, contact them directly and inquire as to the source (ie master) of the album they are selling.
