I think it looks pretty dope! The amp is 30mw +30mw. It's a lot smaller than the PJB100.. Costs about the same. If I was in the market for a hard drive mp3 player, I would probably get the ipod despite the smaller drive. It's easier to use plus I like Macs. BTW neither have line outs.

Party in your pocket!

Apple just introduced their MP3 player. It is the size of a deck of cards, 5 gig HD,10 hr battery and Firewire. Looks pretty, cool.

Yeah, it would look cool next to my Cube and Flat screen. I could tell my wife it's a portable hard drive-which it is...that would make it tax deductible.

Looks cool, sure. But most Apple stuff isn't "expensive" any more. And this one isn't that expensive compared with similar items like the PBJ. And it has features that the other models can't touch, starting with (woohoo!) FireWire instead of USB, a 10-hour Lithium-ion battery (which recharges over the FireWire connection!), smaller size and weight, backlit display, 20-minute memory cache, multi-lingual support, and the ability to double as an external FireWire hard drive that will let you store documents and even run applications

For those who haven't used iTunes with an MP3 player before, it's very well done. Definitely the best interface on the market.

It also has a *gasp* jog dial. Finally, a HD-based MP3 player with a usable navigation device

I'm curious about the earbuds -- I wonder who they OEM'd them from, since they seem to by hyping them quite a bit.

30mW + 30mW amp? Nice.

No line out? Suck.

The big question is whether or not you can upgrade the HD to a bigger size.

I'm not an MP3 fan, but I have to admit that given iTunes and Apple's stellar implementation of the "digital hub" idea, this is a killer product in terms of ease of use.

Gorgon: yes, I merged them. So a couple of the posts overlap -- makes much more sense than having two identical threads in different forums

The 5 gig hd doesn't really bother me. I probably wont listen to 1000 songs in a day, or 2 days, or even a week. Since it is firewire, it only takes 10 minutes to copy a different 1000 songs on it whenever I want. That's not bad.

I'm impulsive, it was just my birthday last weekend, I love Macs, yeah I just ordered an iPod from the Apple store. Estimated ship date is 3-4 weeks.
