There is a site where they make mods to the Apogee, but i dont have any experience with them.

This is only compatible with the original Duet.

The only breakout accessory I've seen for the Duet 2 is the official box from Apogee.  I'm surprised that there us such limited support for the current iteration considering the variety of quality third party options that were available for the original.  Additionally, it would be interesting to see an improved dedicated power supply for it considering a lack of "oomph" is really the unit's only shortcoming when used as a headphone amplifier. (leaps and bounds better than the original, however)

I think I agree with you about the Duet 2 lacking some "oomph". My SHR440 & SRH940 sound fine on it but nothing like the experience I had hearing the Grados RS2 on a tube headphone amp a couple of months ago.

An Apogee Tech support person told me that the Duet 2 cleans the "power" it receives thru USB before any audio is processed. They also highly recommend to just use the USB power. My Duet 2 is connected to my Mac with an Audioquest Carbon USB cable.  I also have my Mac & speakers plugged into a Monster Pro 1000. I don't know if a new power supply will make a difference. I'm on the fence about changing the breakout cable.
