Anything Under $150

Hi, I'm new here and don't know much about headphones and audio. Right now I listen to music of off my Droid Turbo, Toshiba laptop or a Sony MHC-ECL99BT. The headphones I am using right now are $10 Philips ones. I was wondering what should I get to start my audio setup that is under $150? Should I get headphones, amps, portable music player, or anything else?

If you need something with an analitycal aspect, go for Takstar Pro 80 (MSRP $80) , something fun to enjoy music in 3 different ways, go for Xiaomi Mi Headphones (MSRP $95), for the perfect DJ headphones at your budget go for Audio Technica Ath-M50X (MSRP $150). All 3 headphones can be powered through you smartphone or laptop without ampliers, but paired with something like a Fiio Q1 Dac/amp at (MSRP $70), things get more serious and perfect for audiophile starters

Most of us I think would recommend that if you have $150 to spend that you spend it all on cans, since getting the best headphones you can afford will give you the best incremental improvement in overall sound. Get a can that can be driven by your phone or ipod and then later on down the road you can look at an amp or DAC/amp. I am also +1 on the Takstar for a closed option, which is a very good buy right now at a time that a number of cans have mysteriously gone up in price. If you are open to an open can, the Sennheiser HD598 is currently $146.98 on amazon. Also, an excellent buy. Good luck.
