I made my son stay home from school yesterday so we could see it here in Brooklyn. (Actually he woke up sick and feverish, so his mom let him stay home, but he was better by the late matinee;-).

What can I say?

Kong rocks!
Peter Jackson rules!
And I want to make Naomi Watts an honorary Headfier...!

Pretty spectacular movie. Went in with low expectations and came out blown away. Especially with Naomi Watts. Maybe this will finally push her into A List territory.

There were some scenes where the CGI effects looked stilted and jerky and took away from the momentum of the film, but they were far fewer than I expected. The final sequence on top of the Empire State Building deserves it's own DVD release.

I guess this just shows what a great screenplay combined with artistic vision can achieve. Highly recommended!

I saw it a couple of hours ago ,
i think the movie is amazing ,
the visuals are mind blowing and eye candy's are everywhere you look ( though it takes about and hour and a half till they start ) ,
The Story is beautifull too , and the last scene is very emotional .

The only shortcoming of the film is it's length , 3 hours , too long for my taste , but i belive that the scenes adds depth to the charcters so it's ok .

I came with low expections and came out with a smile , a terrfic movie ,
one of the best movies of the year ( Sin City was gr8 2 , can't decide ).

i hope it will get nominated for the best film of the year ( peter is also more then worthy to get another oscar )

Highly recommended ( if you hadn't figured that out untill this point

Saw it tonight, and was blown away. I loved this movie. It was long, but it never felt slow at all and everything in it seemed very necessary and added greatly to the movie. Naomi was wonderful, and beautiful as always. I was most surprised by Jack Black, he was awesome, I can't think of a better person to play that part, he ROCKED! I thought the CGI was amazing, I really got squirming in my seat during the scenes with the giant bugs. I'm definately going to see this one again, but now I have to go see Narnia, thats on for tomorrow evening...

Watched it a few hours ago - I really enjoyed it. It felt a lot shorter than it actually was.

If i had to choose, the only off-ish bit for me woulod be the frozen lake scene.

Heheh, yeah I would agree with that scene too. But it did serve well to bring more human-like qualities and emotions to Kong.

The frozen lake scene was probably one of the best in the entire film. It showed a lot of Kong's character. Otherwise he's just running around NY, picks up Ann, and climbs up the building, and dies. With the frozen lake scene it really adds some sentiment to it all and highlights that fact that Kong really only wants to find comfort in Ann and nothing else, not even the military chase, matters to him once he finds her. Beautiful.
