I'm looking for opinions on this older MD recorder. I scored one new in the box off of Ebay a couple days ago. What can I expect, build quality wise, headphone output, that sort of thing? I've heard that the ATRAC 3 that is uses is noticeably different from 4 or 4.5.

I'll probably still do most of my recording on my trusty MZ-R55 until it kicks, so the ATRAC version won't be of utmost importance. If I do use it, it will mainly be for rock stuff (i.e. Smashing Pumpkins, Rollins, Nerf Herder) and rap/hip hp (Eminem, etc.)

So what can I expect from this unit overall? Since it's new in the box, can I expect a long lifespan from it? I won another used R3 off Ebay last week, but the guy I won it off of informed me after I won it that it was not in "full working condition" as stated in the auction, but rather now there is "something not right with it". Good thing I scored the NIB one!

Looking forward to your opinions/comments.

Thanks in advance, guys!

I **think** Pug owns or owned an R3...no harm in emailing him if you need to, I guess.
