I do. =P

Most of them don't make me tear up because of the lyrics (as most are in Japanese) but usually because of the sound and the music itself, and the fact that I associate music with people I care about or aspects of myself. Also, many of the songs I like a great deal where the singer shows a lot of emotion in her vocals make me cry. (Male singers just can't pull the tears out of me, it just doesn't happen.)

I'll even give a list of the top five songs that pull the most tears out of me. =P

5. Sakamoto Maaya "Kimi ni Aini Ikou" - The song's just so HAPPY that it makes my eyes well up and, it's just really a great feeling to get from a song. Her voice is wonderful for happy songs as well.

4. Hamasaki Ayumi "M" - So much emotion toward the end of this song. It's like tears of whoa! Just does it for me, with no real reason.

3. Utada Hikaru "For You" - Totally makes me think of my friend and old roommate Angie, whom I love to death and wish her job didn't work her to death so we could spend time together.

2. Aikawa Nanase "Crying" - Fitting, isn't it? My tears are evidence of how amazing her voice is in songs where her guitar playing doesn't overshadow it. Again, no reason, just the sound of her voice.

1. BoA "Kiseki" - While this is far from one of my favorite songs (although I do like it) it's the one I, for some reason, associate the most with my best friend who's probably kept me from going insane or killing myself on many occasions. Every time I hear this song I think of Nika, and I start crying. Can't avoid it. Also, if I'm listening to this song and you touch the CD player or the volume, you better run while your limbs are still intact.

Bah, don't ignore my thread! You guys are just too embarrassed to admit what songs make you cry!

I remember at a very young age listening to Nirvana - Oh Me from the Unplugged From New York album, and it giving me that warm feeling inside. I've never cried due to a song though, and even if I have, I'd never admit it

OK, I'll confess that Schubert's -Winterreise- sometimes gets to me in parts.

Tim McGraw - Don't take the Girl has made me cry on at least one occasion. Watching the video for Martina McBride - Concrete Angel made me cry as well. LOL, reading this, you'd think I listen to mostly country... so not the case... Don't get me wrong I like country and I listen to quite a bit of it but it's pretty far down the list in terms of genres I listen to most. Anyway... [/ramble]

I don't know a single domestic song that makes me cry.

I might get flamed for this but I feel that Japanese female singers just put more emotion into their singing. Maybe it's the way their voices sound to me, the lyrical nature of the language and the emotional aspect all wrapped up into one.

Or maybe I just don't listen to sad English language songs... as most of my domestic music tends to be metal, industrial and electronica...

electronica can do it for ya.. depends on the group. some of those guys create truly incredible soundscapes that can dig up all sorts of wacky emotions :O

actually, autechre's incunabula is a decent example. some of the tracks on there are just wow.. lyrics aren't always necessary, if the artist is good enough ;]

or you can just go listen to merzbow.. i guarantee that'll make you cry if you listen to it long enough (over 5 minutes), but probably for the wrong reasons :O

I can't remember the song's name, but like 5 years ago a friend of mine commited suicide, and he had this one song he loved, and for like 1/2 a year after that, whenever I heard that song, I would think of him.

I'm a b**tch when it comes to emotional songs. I jsut start losing it. I also associate songs with moments that happened in my life, or situations. They don't necessarily make me teary-eyed (me man, me no cry), but do get me quite close. My picks? Well here are a few:

Bon-Bon Blanco - The Sea of Time. It's a B-side that is just plain incredible, evoking feelings that I never knew I had.

N'Sync - This I Promise You/ Something Like You. So many times in my life I've been told that I was "the sweetest and nicest guy they ever met", but will never be anything more. Suck when you know you're good for someone, but it can never be.

98 Degrees - Invisible Man. Same as above, but this hits me a little different since the story's tweaked a bit.

Sukiyaki (american version). A simple yet heart-felt song.

Weather Forecast - If Only I Had You Here. A great track that flows flawlessy, smacking me with its' message.

BSB - All I Have to Give. Most of the girls I've had drama with were from the upper-middle class. I'm a ghetto punk with no money and no car, but I still have something those rich boys can't give, and those girls know it.

Morning Musume - I Wish. It's a great song. What else can I say.

Aaron Carter - Do You Remember
. I'm not too fond of the artist, but the song is good.

All 4 One - I Swear. A classic ballad, baby.

W-inds - Deny. Just gets to me, not really a tear-jerker though.

There are a lot more songs that do much more damage than these, but I can't think of them right now.

Beethoven’s Sonata for Piano No. 14 has made me cry. This was perhaps the only time music made me cry on its on merit without it being associated with some nostalgic memory.

I was waiting for you to post on this thread :x Knowing the type of music you listen to I figured you'd have at least a few. I just don't understand the attraction to boy-bands.

OT, have you seen any place selling Ueto Aya's new album "Re."? Other than yesasia, they want way too much for it.
