Anybody here waiting for Oppo's upcoming player?

It's quite certain that there will be a black unit coming out soon. I was at least told in my inquiring mail that they are looking to release one, and people in AVSforum has actually seen a pre production model. Most of my equipments are in black and I really want something that would match the theme. I just cancelled my order on the 970hd, I'm wondering if I made the right decision. I really hope that the upcoming model has sound quality as good as the 970hd if not better...

I have the 970. Is the audio supposed to be that spectacular? Do you mean the analog outs?

yup, analog out.

AFAIK, both the anlog out for SACD and CD is spectacular

There's a thread on stevehoffman.tv with a member saying that the Oppo HD970 is superior to his Pioneer Elite uni player. That's quite a claim.

I am also waiting for this new player to be introduced.

Hmmm, my Philips DVP642 has always been a bit finicky especially with DivX files so I've had my eyes open for a reasonably priced replacement for awhile now. The Oppo units have always tempted me but this news on the 970's sound quality is most intriguing. Anyone know how well it deals with DivX?
