The cable on my Havi B3P1 is rapidly going down hill. I have put some feelers out trying to find someone (in Canada) that could do a detachable conversion for a reasonable price, but so far no joy.

So that leads to wonder if I should just attempt to try it myself. I do know how to use an iron, although I would need some practice time first - been a while since I soldered for real.
My biggest questions are regarding the tools needed.

My iron is a fairly basic adjustable jobby I picked up from the Canadian version of Radio Shack. It does have a large tip however, so I'd be a little worried about cooking the wiring.
What would be an ideal size tip for working on IEMs?
What about type of solder?
What sort of magnifying devices work best for this sort of thing?
Would it just be for the best not to even try (I really like the sound of the B3P1 and would hate to destroy them considering they're discontinued) and hope to eventually find somebody to do it for me?

Cheers
