Hi. I'm looking for a headphone amp to use with Sennheiser HD580 headphone. Is there any one uses the Antique Sound Lab LH-01 for this purpose? How does it compare with the ASL MG head amplifier?

Thanks.

Which ASL HEAD model? DT/OTL MKII, DT/OTL MKIII, or DT/OTL 32?

I'm sorry for the confusion. I'm trying to compare the LH-01 with the MG Head DT/OTL MkII and MkIII since all three of them are similar price.

Thanks.

I think there is a very limited number of members using LH-01 as oppose to DT/OTL MKII/MKIII and OTL32. I've heard both MKII and OTL32. They are both pretty good with high impedance cans like Senn H-580. MKII/MKIII are suitable for high impedance cans like Senn HD580/HD6x0 series. MKIII version comes w/ better power supply so it will sound slightly better than MKII version. As name suggest (32=>32 ohms), OTL32 is also suitable for using low impedance cans like Sony/Grado/Audio Techinica's and capable of driving AKG K1000 ear monitors as well. I think it is currently most versatile amp in ASL line. I own one and I'm very happy with it.

As far as I can tell, LH-01 is preamp and has only has a specification on 32ohm headphone impedance (no mention of what kind of performance with high 300ohm impedance). If you only need an amp driving your high impedance HD580, I think MKIII will be better (assuming you don't need preamp feature). May be some of fellow head-fiers with LH-01 can clarify possible use of LH-01 with HD580, 'till then I would suggest to hold on to your purchase.
