I am currently using the RS 273-1900 power supply at 9V 650mA to power my D-25S. What will the effect be if I I go with an adopter that provides 800 or 1300mA.
Any better audio quality?

Doubt it, since this supply goes into the CDP regulator circuit. The transient draws on the internal PS capacitors will be the limiting factor, a higher current feed will help somewhat, but ultimately, it's the caps that matter most.

The RS 273-1900 works well to power the D-25S as a AC/DC adopter

What I have noticed is that when attempting to use this power supply to power the D25s portably with 4 AA full charged 1850mA Ni-MH batteries in it, it provides power for only about 20 minutes and then stops. I guess it is draining the batteries in that time.

Why would the portable power of the 4 Ni-MH AA be so short?
