As someone new to the hi-fi, I just want to ask, what can be the major difference in effect between two amps, say both are solid state and both have enough power to support my headphone? I am asking this because my amp is kind of entry level and I am wondering what changes a more expensive amp can bring me with?

If both amps provide the exact same amount of power and are both SS then the differences you hear will be due to construction (quality of parts used and type of wiring), tuning (bright, warm or dark) and the OPamp used. Everyone has at least three opinions on the order of importance of these things
