New Head-Fier
They were adequately driven by an old Sony TA-FE300R https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/sony/ta-fe300r.shtml until recently a recent loud crackling noise noise appeared from the right speaker. After swapping cables, speakers, rca etc I eventually diagnosed it as a problem with the amp itself. As I'm buying a new amp anyway I'd prefer to get something more suitably powerful.
People online say the hecos are have:
Power handling / nominal / max .: 80/120 watts
Impedance: 4-8 ohms
Recommended amplifier power:> 30 watts
But I'm not sure whether that means 80/120 per speaker, or 40/60 per speaker for a total of 80/120? What kind of amp specs should I be looking for?
