I've recently got back into headphone listening, and subscribed to apple music for their lossless and hi-res lossless streaming, which is great. Coming from spotify though I'm not so impressed with the app itself.

Major feature I miss is the ability to plug my computer into my dac and control the app (which was spotify) with my phone. Also scrubbing through songs and a/b testing is crap. Anyone recommend something to solve these? I'm an indie app developer and even considered making an apple music client myself just for macOS/iOS/ipadOS to solve these issues and make something better...

I've heard of Tidal, but I want to be able to access basically any song I want, and I don't think their catalogue can match apple's...

You're pretty much stuck with an Eversolo streamer to get that remote functionality (AKA Spotify Connect) with Apple Music

Totally forgot you can AirPlay with a Macbook or Mac Mini from your iPad / iPhone, but Airplay can only do 16/48 max so you won't get the full 24/192 that an Eversolo DMP A6 Gen 2 can

Yeah spotify connect that's the one. I see about the streamer, and airplay limitations, so maybe another Apple Music client would be useful...

Is there any interest in an Apple Music alternative client? Probably take me several months to put one together in my spare time. I wonder if I could post somewhere to get any interest/feedback...

That's pretty much it. There's literally no other alternative other than Airplay (which is limited to 16/48 KHz) or Eversolo streamer which allows 24/192 KHz with Apple Music (using screencast)

Can't you connect iPad to the dac and control Apple Music from the iPad?
But you couldn't use the phone anyway and you would still be limited by the iPad cable:pensando:

I don't even want to touch the iPad that's connected to the DAC. I want to control the iPad on another iPad just like other streaming services (Spotify Connect). The Camera Connection kit is pretty transparent and is not a limitation in my book. I just don't like the more sterile sound out of the iPad and much preferred the more organic sound out of the iPod Touch 7th gen
