Someone kindly gave me a pointer in the past to an alternative to Sonic Stage.

I have just been ****ed up the ass by the person that is Sonic stage. It must count copies of tracks copied to and from one player and only allow limited transfers because I tried copying my database to my girlfriends player (same player same firmware) and it refused ALL tracks!!!! SONY=****S!!!

Anyway can anyone please give me that pointer to where I can get the alternative to Sonic Stage and get good ridence of thew **** Pheeew.

This help is needed big time before I fire myself out of a cannonball into the ****ing sun.

Strange, I got two walkmans, and sometimes refresh their whole content, never any problem.

Somewhere here must be an alternative: http://www.atraclife.com/

What's the player. BTW you are doing something wrong if SS is doing that. You can turn that DRM off.

I am not doing anything wrong. I have transfered music into sonicstage many times and have transfered music from sonicstage to my NW-HD1 many times- all without problem.

This problem has come about when attempting to use two NW-HD1's from one version of sonicstage. It must be a DRM/sony be ass holes issue.

How can you turn the DRM off?

I am operating sonicstage version 4.2 with two NW-HD1’s that both have the same firmware and I am having this problem.

If I copy my sonicstage music to my player it works. If I attempt to copy the same to my girlfriend’s player it refuses to copy all tracks. If I use the same version of sonicstage and import music into said software on my girlfriends computer it all works, on the other hand nothing will copy to my player.

This must be DRM surely?

I don't have SS installed at the moment but I need to install it for my HiMD later, and I'll have a look. I suspect its DRM on the files (I assume they are ATRAC?) when they were imported/encoded into SS. Perhaps not. But people on the Minidisc.org sometimes have issues with DRM and I've never had and I have a vague memory of turning off some DRM options when importing files.

Yes my music was imported to sonicstage and is in atrac format, If you could take a look at the options on this at some point I'd appreicate that, obviously I'll take a look and see if there is anythin I can spot.

If I can't alter an option relating to this issue I'll have to look at installing one of the software alternatives/add ons and as soon as you start going down that route you start worrying about all maner of stuff like;

Will I loose/have to re-import all my music etc

I had similar issues with some tracks and there is a simple solution that helps some times. I would use different software, e.g. J.River Media Center, to convert all my files into WAVs, etc and then import those into SS.

Once imported into sonicstage why would wavs get around the DRM?

Some of my music was in wavs and transfered and they do not transfer to two players, so it doesn't work.

Also even if it did work;

That cure is worse than the disease!!

Convert ALL my music into wavs and re-import everything Jeezuz.

If you have a sore tooth do you recommed tearing a leg off to forget the pain?

Joking like but you get my drift...

Ok I've installed it and ripped and encoded an album. Hope the screen grabs illustrate what I mean. Have a look at them here. On the 2nd picture you see the SS Main screen. You click the suitcase looking icon on the right side and that pops up the the third picture. You unclick the add copy protection and import. Then when you look at the tracks in the SS library there should be no protection on them. Check out the columns I've added. You can also check the properties of each track as in the 5th picture. I think you can zoom in on the photos if they are a little small. Are yours the same?

I suspect you can't undo protection unfortunately, but I don't know for sure. Try ripping a new album with protection and see if it can be transferred to bother DAPs.

Exactly like I do it, Sparky (including the 256 Kbs). And I have no problems importing the same music on my NW-HD1 & A3000 as many times as I want.
Notice the unmarked copyprotection option on screen 3, could that be the culprit, Crisco?

256 kbps and note "high quality"

I only have a HiMD I don't generally use it for playback only recording. But thats what I'd use if I did.
