I won an ebay auction for the stax electret srd-84s and I need a speaker amp to power them, the best bang for the buck option seems to be the sonic impact T-amp but they are OOS everywhere except on ebay and after 4 recently sold the cheapest is 60 dollars buy it now+12 dollars shipping. Are there are any other good bang for the buck alternatives or does anyone know if the T-amp is discontinued or is going to be in stock soon? I dont mind paying more than 30 but the super t-amp for 140 is not worth it for me right now.

I don't know what stores are you looking at but right now the T-Amp is 29.99 + S&H at Parts Express. I haven't heard anything about it being discontinued and certainly hope it will never be.

thanks it says in stock october 31, 2006 so it looks like its not discontinued, good to hear! I checked about 10 retailers through froogle but it looks like they just sell out really fast.

is there anything that costs somewhat more but competes with it? Any alternatives or is it pretty much in its own category because it costs so little for what you get?

I ordered one at $99 + $23 shipping from Hong Kong. It may be what your looking for, but I'm not sure how long it will take to get to you from the Orient.
