So I've been going back and forth on a new set of cans and have settled on the AKG K712 Pro's. I was going between the AKG's and Beyerdynamic DT 990 Premium 600 Ohm and finally settled on the 712's.

So I have read the Gaming Headphone guide and that has led me to the 712's but I'm clueless as to what I should use to drive them. I will mainly use them for gaming. Some lite video as well but the primary use is for gaming. I play mainly FPS with BF4 as the mainstay as well as racing simulations.

I have an ASUS Xonar Xense sound card. Would this be enough to drive the 712's or should I look at another option.

Thanks

I have owned the DT990 and replaced it with the K712 Pro.  The DT990 is fun sounding for a day or two, but the treble is piercing and the sound signature is much too V-shaped to be enjoyable long term.

You will be fine driving the K712 Pro with your soundcard, but if you run into problems let us know and we can make suggestions.
