I am looking for some headphones, and I remember being at a head phone convention and listening to these. They simply sounded amazing. I knew they are a bit pricey.

Would these be good for gaming also? I'd like to get a head phone amp as well in the future.

They work well for me for gaming. The only thing to take note is that they are open-back, so it does not isolate you from noises at all... If you're playing some online multiplayer action games that require fast reaction to gunshots or whatever, and playing in a noisy environment (and don't want to turn up the volume to dangerous levels), then you may want to look at closed-back headphones............

Welcome to Head-fi and sorry about your wallet. What kind of music do you listen to? How much are you willing to spend total on amp+phones?

The 701s are great for gaming IMO but you need an amp with them and there might be a better phone/amp combo for you depending on what you listen to and the such. They are very amp dependent and you will not be happy with them unamped.

The detail is nice, but I prefer closed cans for gaming.

long-term comfort is important, too if you like the k701 sound for long term listening go for it - but if you just want gaming cans you can get by with a similar detail level using the k271 (plus they are closed).

Lack of bass, may not have enough impact for gaming.

I heard the Plantronics Gamecom1 are a good pair for the price, and it has a mic. What about these?

I am really looking for something with good mid/high/low, I'd like everything to equal out without having to spend a lot of money.

Usually you will get more for your money with headphones made for music (most will also sound better in games that specialized gaming headphones ) + a separate mic.
But if you really want a headset, you may want to wait for those Qpad headset using an evolution of the mmx300 from Beyer apparently ? I' m sure they will beat most of the gaming headset already out there

These K701 recommendations are total overkill. The Koss KSC75 is more than enough for gaming purposes, let alone casual listening.

The customizable model they are based on cost 279euro from their own website so the qpad might have a price close to that as well.
