Hi there,

My AKG broke down recently. It trully was a sad day (not that I'm a materialistic, they were just my treasure). So I need a replacement. I thought of getting a new pair of the same model, but then I remember I would also need an amp, which I don't have (they are supposed to be used with an amp, right? I do remember using one at the begining, but it stopped working shortly after the purchase and I didn't bother getting a new one. I guess I got used to them without any amp). The problem is: I'm in a budget right now, so I'm looking for a headphone with similar sound/comfort that doesn't requiered an amp (I know, too good to be true). Alternatively, I would consider gettin a new K612 pro + a BBB amp (Good Pretty and Cheap in spanish) if the latter isn't too expensive (which is a feacible option, given that the K612 pro are cheaper now).

Any advice would be appreciated. I don't believe my ears will last much longet with eardbuds 24/7. And just to be clear, my budget is 100-150 euros (including the amp, if there's one).

What sources are you plugging the headphones into?

Soundmagic HP200 open headphones, should be easier to drive then the K612 Pro.

I own the Soundmagic HP200 (open) and HP151 (closed) headphones, they are great bang for the buck headphones, strong bass/treble.

So I did buy this Soundmagic HP200. Here's a little summary of my experience with them:

- They were very comfortable. I did feel kind of isolated with them on, thou. Sometimes I had the impression of wearing closed heaphones.
- They sounded OK. Again, I got the impession of wearing closed headphones, like If I was listening to music in a closed room. I guess I preffer airy headphones. They did reach a decent level of volume, thou, even when I used them directly on my phone.
- Now, regarding the build quality... After a week of use they looked like they were two years old. Ear pands and headband had already begun to wear away. For a moment there, I thought I've got a 10 bucks headset from down the store.

Needless to say, I returned them.

Now I'm considering going back to my AKG K612 (a new pair). They are comfy, cheap, and they sound great. I just need a good budget amp to go along with it. Any ideas?
