Do you have to use the MonsterCable that Apple sells with the Airport Express to get the optical out? I was under the impression that any mini-toslink cable would work, but I have read a couple places that since the jack is dual-purpose, the MonsterCable they sell is different from normal mini-toslink.

I use one of the klone mini->toslink adaptors from american digital with one of the ebay glass optical cables. Works like a charm, and comes out to be about as much as the monster kit with less stuff I don't need (and presumable higher quality)!
